I like to think of it as the area where linguistics and artificial intelligence meet. Computational Pragmatics. Discourse. Rhetorical/Discourse/Information Structure. Anaphora, referring expressions, computational reference resolution, presupposition, implicature. Plus philosophy of language, psycholinguistics, and Germanic languages. Yes, I am painfully aware of the fact that I have too many interests.
Everyone should totally use Python, because it rocks.
Outside of school, I am a knitter, violinist, and (former, and hopefully soon-to-be once again) marathon runner. I love Lego, logic puzzles, and my husband. I am currently teaching myself Icelandic and am a bit of a Germanic-languages geek. I collect translated copies of "Le Petit Prince" and "Winnie the Pooh" in as many languages as I can get my hands on. I am most recently from a beautiful small town in SE Minnesota (want to see just how beautiful? Here's a picture) and miss living in a place so lovely.
