The District of Columbia: Taxation without Representation United States citizens in the District of Columbus have no voting representation in either house of Congress. The 570,000 residents of the District have fewer voting rights now then they did 200 years ago--from 1790 to 1800 DC residents were permitted to vote in their former state (Maryland or Virginia). Visit the DC Vote website to learn more about the issue. Then consider contacting your Senators and Representatives to use your civil right to vote to help your fellow citizens regain this most basic of civil rights.
New York Mets baseball You gotta believe.
Running Running Speech (the department running team) fielded 12 runners for the 2002 Race for the Cure to raise money for breast cancer research and education (to learn more, go to the Komen Columbus website). This year's event was bigger than ever--with 27,000 participants, by far the largest road race in Ohio. The weather was cool--perfect for running. And the post-race party was so much fun that we forgot to take pictures! A special thanks to Peter Culicover for providing us hungry runners with home-smoked salmon, even though he couldn't run this year.
