with Live!Drive:
Capture Digitally from a DAT Player
In order to digitally transfer your recordings from a DAT player to a .wav file, you need
1. a portable DAT player ,
2. a connecting cable , and
3. a Live!Drive .
Instructions (for Windows 2000)
1. Connect the digital/analog end of the connecting cable to the Digital I/O of the portable DAT player and the RCA end of the connecting cable to the SPDIF In of the Live!Drive on one of the Windows NT machines in Room 21 of Oxley Hall.
2. Run the Creative Recorder program and make sure the appropriate input source (SPDIF-In/Auxiliary2) has been selected by clicking "Recording source " area of the Recorder.
3. Click on the "Settings" area of the Recorder and set the quality of the new recordings (Sampling rate, bits per sample, etc.) by pressing the "change" button of the Recorder Settings dialog box . You can also change the folder in which you want your new recording to be created by pressing the "browse" button.
4. Make sure that the SPDIF-In/Auxiliary2 section is " selected " on the Record Control dialog box that shows up when you double-click the volume icon on the system tray of your Windows task bar.
5. Push the REC button on the Creative Recorder and play your DAT player. You can check the status of your recording by looking at the recording level on the Creative Recorder. When you're done with the recording, press the STOP button on the Recorder. Your file can be located in the folder that you have designated in step 3.
