Currently Teaching (Fall 2007):

  • Ling 661.01 Introduction to Sociolinguistics
    This is a graduate-level introduction to the study of the relationship between language and society. The course will survey various traditions within the fields and explore their theoretical content and primary methodological tools, including qualitative, quantitative and combined approaches. By the end of the class students should have a good understanding of the foundational concerns of sociolinguistic research, be familiar with its disciplinary history and current foci and be able to carry out basic analyses in the major traditions.
