I am a member of the Computational Linguistics and Language Technology (CLLT) Group, which spans the departments of Linguistics and CSE and includes CL faculty Chris Brew, Mike White, Donna Byron, and Eric Fosler-Lussier.

My work currently focuses on three broad areas: the use of linguistic insight in computational linguistics, e.g.: use and correction of corpus annotation (DECCA project) HPSG, constraint-based grammar formalization and processing intelligent computer-aided language learning (ICALL research group) CALICO-08 Workshop on "Automatic Analysis of Learner Language" the interface of syntax and information structure, aimed at developing an architecture capable of encoding the constraint interaction from syntax and formal pragmatics to obtain contextual explanations for currently stipulated syntactic constraints. teaching CL and linguistics in a way that combines current technology and research insights with the fundamentals of the field For more information, check out my publications, projects, and teaching pages, or send me an email.

My country is in ruins. So I'm a fish in a poisoned fishbowl. I'm mostly just heartsick about this. There should have been hope. This should have been a great country. Priorities and "Family Values": On October 3, 2007, President Bush vetoed a renewal of the State Children's Health Insurance Program that would have provided an estimated 10 million children with health insurance coverage, at a cost of $60 billion over five years. At the end of September, the president sent a request to Congress for $189 billion to pay for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan next year, on top of the $455 billion for the DOD's regular budget.

The Bush regime started a war, for reasons that have been entirely discredited. Bush lied - Thousands died. High time to Impeach Bush!
