My work currently focuses on three broad areas:
  • the use of linguistic insight in computational linguistics, e.g.:
  • the interface of syntax and information structure, aimed at developing an architecture capable of encoding the constraint interaction from syntax and formal pragmatics to obtain contextual explanations for currently stipulated syntactic constraints.

  • teaching CL and linguistics in a way that combines current technology and research insights with the fundamentals of the field

My country is in ruins. So I'm a fish in a poisoned fishbowl. I'm mostly just heartsick about this. There should have been hope. This should have been a great country. But we are dispised all over the world now. I was hoping to build a country and add to its literature. That's why I served in World War II and that's why I wrote books.

Kurt Vonnegut, in his last interview, 2007.

Iraq:

The Bush regime started a war, for reasons that have been entirely discredited. Bush lied - Thousands died. High time to Impeach Bush!
