CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION:

The 2nd International Conference on Modern Greek Dialects and Linguistic Theory following on the success of the 1st conference (Patras, Greece, October 2000), will be held in Mytilene, Greece, September 30 – October 3, 2004. The focus of the conference is the interaction between Modern Greek dialectology and linguistic theory, working from either perspective and covering, in principle, any relevant fields of linguistics and any theoretical framework.

Invited speakers include Cleo Condoravdi, Eric P. Hamp, Paul Kiparsky, and Peter Trudgill, as well as two special honoured speakers, Angeliki Malikouti- Drachman and Panayotis Kontos, who will be recognized for their long-standing contributions to Greek linguistics and dialectology.
