Research Projects
The following is a list of ongoing research projects in the ICALL Research Group:
- TAGARELA -- An intelligent computer-assisted language learning (ICALL) system designed to be fully integrated into the Portuguese Individualized Instruction Program at The Ohio State University. It can be viewed as an intelligent automatic workbook that provides students with opportunities to practice their reading, listening, and writing skills. This project is funded 2005-2007 by an Arts and Humanities Grant for Innovation under the project title "Bridging the Gap between Research ing Natural Language Processing and Individualized Language Instruction."
- Working with English Real Texts (WERTi) -- A web-based ICALL system using authentic texts selected by the learner as basis for automatically generated language awareness activities.
- Content Assessment Module (CAM) -- A component for an ICALL system for learners of English. It evaluates the semantic content of a learner response by comparing the learner response to a target response using surface-based content or form analysis techniques.
