Preface

This Handbook contains authoritative information about our graduate programs and their requirements. Together with the other pages linked under our department home page, it replaces the comprehensive hard copy Handbook (last issue #31 in 1998) that used to be updated and reprinted every Autumn Quarter, for distribution to faculty and graduate students in the department.
