Accounts of semantic judgments in languages, especially within the theory of generative grammar; relationships between syntax, semantics, and language use.

Theoretical approach and mode of presentation varies according to topic and instructor. Recent topics for this seminar have been: the theory of speech acts, advanced Montague Grammar, semantics of tense and aspect, situation semantics, Generalized Quantifier theory, and discourse representation.
