795 Seminar in Linguistics U G 1-5
Prereq: 602.02 and 603.02, or permission of instructor


A selected group study, with emphasis on individual writing and presentation.

This course usually has a different topic every quarter it is offered. The topics covered in the past include: computational linguistics, structure of the language processing system, language typology, GPSG seminar, introduction to pragmatics, introduction to GPSG, experimental research in intonation and accent, seminar in morphology, a seminar in tone, agreement and government, seminar on adverbs, statistics for linguists, introduction to GB Theory, experimental psycholinguistics, phonetic and phonological interference in second language acquisition, introduction to conversation analysis, geometry of phonological features, syntax of extraction, current topics in phonological theory, and introduction to categorial grammar.
