695 Seminar in Anthropological Linguistics U G 5
Prereq: Anthro. 675 or Ling. 601 or permission of instructor
The purpose of 695 is to provide students with the opportunity to pursue special problems connected with language and culture. The content varies from year to year, depending upon the interests of the class and the mood of the instructor. Past topics have been: classification of American Indian languages, the reconstruction of Proto Miwok, language change and world view, and the evolution
of language. Students' reports and term papers investigate specific problems with a wide degree of personal choice. There will be a term paper but no final examination.
